PERMANENT LIP ENLARGEMENT WITH A BULLHORN EXCISION
A lip lift can be performed on people with thin lips or on people whose corners of the mouth have turned downward due to age. The lift is also suitable for people who have a distance of 1.8 cm or more between their nose and upper lip. In your early 20s this can be 1.5 cm and by the age of 40 it can be 3 cm. Full, voluminous lips and a short distance between lip and nose are rated as particularly attractive. Therefore, lip lift is also a good option for older patients who have noticed an increase in the length between the base of the nose and the upper lip. The lifting not only helps to create more volume, but also creates a more youthful appearance.
Pleasant side effect – “lip enlargement”
The “bullhorn excision” shortens the distance between the nose and upper lip. The upper lip is lifted slightly and more lip red becomes visible. As a result, on the one hand, the red of the lips appears larger and more noticeable and, on the other hand, the upper row of teeth is also visible when you smile. This means that the procedure eliminates the need for excessive injections of filling materials such as hyaluronic acid into a hanging lip to increase the redness of the lips and emphasize them.
A narrow strip of tissue is removed directly below the nostrils and the skin is gently tightened. The method also owes its name to the shape of the tissue strips, because the outlines of the strips resemble the horns of a bull (bullhorn).
At the beginning of the treatment, the proportionally correct distance between the bridge of the nose and the red of the upper lip is determined and drawn. The same applies to the cutting. A piece of skin and subcutaneous tissue is then removed. The two cut edges are then brought together and closed with fine seams. This shortens the skin between the nose and upper lip and pulls the upper lip slightly upwards. This is exactly where the desired effect lies. The entire treatment takes place under local anesthesia and takes approximately 30 minutes.
RISKS AND RECOVERY
The minimally invasive procedure means that the treatment is almost painless. Our patients appreciate this just as much as the fact that scars are barely visible. This makes precise cutting all the more important.
