UPPER ARM LIFT
If the skin elasticity on the upper arms has decreased and the fat content is low, then an upper arm lift leads to very good results. If the excess fat is very pronounced, the procedure can be combined with liposuction.
The surgeon removes the excess fat and skin tissue in the middle of the inside of the upper arm. If the excess skin is very pronounced, an expanded incision in the armpit is necessary. If the excess amount of fat is not too high and the skin is still relatively elastic, liposuction is sufficient in some cases.
-
Sagging and excess skin on the inside of the upper arm is permanently removed
-
large fat deposits are removed
-
the supporting tissue under the skin is tightened
-
the upper arms take on a new shape and the skin is smoothed
-
the upper arms appear strong and young again
The procedure continues just below the skin further backwards until a skin flap is formed. The resulting skin flap is now held under tension on the inside of the upper arms so that the extent of the skin to be removed can be determined. The excess tissue is removed, a wound drain may be inserted into each arm (depending on the bleeding tendency) and the wound is sutured. Now follows the application of a bandage with adhesive shaping plasters and the elastic wrapping of the arms. The procedure is carried out under general anesthesia or, if the patient wishes, also under local anesthesia with Dtwilight sleep and lasts up to 2 hours.
RISKS AND RECOVERY
As with other operations, general surgical risks such as post-operative bleeding, swelling, impaired wound healing, bruising and infections cannot be completely ruled out, but these can be treated quickly and easily. Any sensory impairments in the scar area or on the upper arms usually go away on their own after a few weeks.
Any drains that may have been placed are removed after one or two days and the dressing is changed. From this point on, the patient must wear a compression bandage continuously for at least four to six weeks for the best possible result. After four to five weeks, you can start with light physical work and sporting activities. The scar should be protected from the sun for about a year.
